Your fort never sleeps
Here's the thing about FortWar that I most wanted from the start: your fort is always on. Close the tab, go to bed, go to work. The horde keeps coming, your turrets keep firing, and your chat (if you've got one) keeps defending.
That's a bit scary. It's also the fun of it. You come back and wonder: is it still standing?
Always on
Every fort on the map runs on the server all the time, yours and everyone else's. Waves keep landing on their timer. Drones keep mining. The world's night still falls. Nothing pauses for you.
That's what makes it a game you can share with people who aren't at their desk. Your fort is a place your friends and your chat can show up to, whether or not you're there.
"While you were gone"
When you come back, the first thing you see is a replay. While you were away, the fort kept a rolling recording and scored how intense each moment was: buildings taking damage, the core in danger, monsters near the core. It keeps the toughest stretch, about 24 seconds of it, and plays it back for you with captions and name tags.
The replay of the toughest moment while I was away, in the vertical format it's recorded in.
Then you get the summary: how many waves hit, how many monsters died, what you lost, how low the core got. And the part I like best: who held the line, the viewers whose avatars did the most killing while you were out, and who tried to wreck it, if chaos was on.

Short absences (under two minutes, or ones where nothing happened) don't get a report. The tallies are saved with the fort, so a server restart doesn't lose them.
Share clip
The replay is recorded as a vertical video, sized for phones. Hit Share clip and it opens your phone's share sheet, or downloads the video on a computer. So the night your chat held off a boss while you slept is something you can post.
Coming back
The other half of "always on" is knowing when to come back. If you turn on alerts in the account panel, FortWar can ping you while you're away: a raid launched at you, a surge coming in 30 minutes, the core dropping below a third. More on those later this month.
See if yours is still standing
Claim a hex at fortwar.io, build it up, close the tab, and come back tomorrow. Then tell me what happened, in the Discord or in chat at twitch.tv/kiralumen. I love hearing these.
